President, Senior Traffic and Transportation Engineer

Kari McDowell Schroeder is a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer with over twenty-one years of experience specializing in traffic and transportation engineering. She started McDowell Engineering in 2008 to serve communities in the mountain region of Colorado. Her practice melds together innovative, multimodal transportation solutions with a practical operations expertise.

Kari was named the Institute of Transportation Engineer’s 2010 Colorado/Wyoming Transportation Professional of the Year. She also received the Section’s Outstanding Service Award in 2018 for organizing the Colorado Transportation Symposium for ten years. She is active in the transportation engineering profession and serves on the Colorado/Wyoming Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Executive Committee. Kari’s previous experience includes transportation planning documents, transportation master plans, corridor and access studies, multimodal plans, accident analysis, intersection improvements, signal timing plans, streetscape and urban roadway design, highway improvement plans, and public facilitation.
